Elective Language Classes

CHINESE

Level 1 – Beginner Level

Beginners start with alphabets and elementary grammar – very basic elementary grade level.

Level 2 – Elementary Level

This level provides foundational understanding in reading, writing (including writing a simple article and/or diary), speaking, and listening. Students can engage in basic conversations.

Level 3 – Intermediate Level

Higher learning than elementary level, this level provides a holistic understanding in reading, writing, speaking and listening, as well as Chinese culture. This level can communicate with Chinese people, read newspapers, magazines and understand high school level classes.

Level 4 – Advanced Level

Higher learning than intermediate level, students learn to read, write, speak, listen, and a deeper understanding of Chinese history and culture. This level can engage in sophisticated conversations, read newspapers or magazines, write essays, and understand introductory college-level courses.

Level 5 – Professional Level

At the highest level, students can fully understand accelerated college-level courses and teach Chinese to students in lower level classes. Comprehending advanced literature, students will gain a profound and a full understanding of the language, culture, and traditions. Students also become bilingual, making them proficient in interpretations and translations in both English and Chinese.

SPANISH

Level 1 – Beginner Level

KOREAN

Higher learning than intermediate level, students learn to read, write, speak, listen and a deeper understanding of Korean history and culture. This level can engage in sophisticated conversations, read newspapers or magazines, write essays, and understand introductory college-level courses.

Level 5 – Professional Level

ESL

English as Second Language (ESL) Classes
Level 1 – Beginner Level

Beginners start with alphabets and elementary grammar – very basic elementary grade level.

Level 2 – Intermediate Level

Beginners start with alphabets and elementary grammar – very basic elementary grade level.

Level 3 – Proficient Level

Provides a holistic understanding in reading, writing, speaking and listening, as well as American culture. This level can communicate with Americans, read newspapers, magazines and understand high school level classes. Students can take regular courses upon completing this level.

ESL students learn English to improve overall reading, writing, listening, and speaking proficiency.
